Blog :: British Weather - Are your Window blinds working for you?
By Steve Forrest
Over the past few weeks, we’ve certainly had some excellent British weather with the hot sunshine. But have you been too hot in your bedroom at night or to sit in your conservatory in the daytime?
The fabric on different types of window blinds can help to keep your room cool in summer and warmer in winter. This is done by a coating on the fabric called Solar Protective Coating (SPC).
SPC coating works when the heat comes through the glass and towards the window blind, the coating on the fabric reflects a high percentage of the heat back out of the window and a small percentage is absorbed by the fabric. Then when the temperatures become a lot colder in the winter time, the fabric will work in the same manner in a way that the SPC will help to keep the heat inside the building.
What if I already have window blinds but want to change the fabric to SPC?
For Roller and Pleated blinds, changing the fabric will involve a new blind been installed, but we can use the same fixings, so no new holes will have to be drilled.
With Panel and Vertical blinds, Jennys Blinds in Macclesfield provide a service in which we can replace the fabric without replacing the track system. This can be a more affordable solution for customers.
This is an insight into some of the fabrics we can offer our customers. If you would like any advice about any of the fabrics or blinds we have at Jennys Blinds then please do not hesitate to contact me.
